Lee Ha-nui is 2006 Miss Korea winner Honey Lee’s traditional Korean name. Honey was born on March 2, 1983 in Seoul, South Korea. This 5’9 beauty finished her bachelor’s college degree at the prestigious Seoul National University, and she graduated with honors. She also took up and finished her Master’s Degree in the same university. After winning the 50th Miss Korea title in 2006, she represented her country by competing in the Miss Universe 2007 beauty pageant held in Mexico City, Mexico. She was 3rd runner up. She is now an actress under Saram Entertainment.
Honey Lee currently appears in Korean television and movies, but she is also classical musician, being an accomplished gayageum or kayagum player. A gayageum is a traditional Korean string instrument that looks like a zither. She also practices a vegetarian lifestyle, and even has a TV show called Lee Ha-Nui’s Vegan Recipe.
Honey has two other siblings, a sister and a brother. She is the middle child. Her older sister graduated with a specialized degree in Korean traditional music from Seoul National University. Together with her sister and mother, Honey performs the gayageum and was even honored with the title gayageum prodigy by the most prestigious musical foundation in South Korea, the Kumho Art Center. Honey has actually released 4 CDs and has played worldwide with her family in some of the best concert venues on the planet, including Carnegie Hall in New York City.
After winning the title of Miss Korea and competing in the Miss Universe pageant, Honey Lee became involved with volunteer work for UNICEF, World Vision and Korea Green Foundation. She has also co-hosted several shows over SBS, the national TV network. She endorses fashion brands such as Tommy Hilfiger and DAKS in Korea. She has appeared in stage musicales, including the lead role of Elle Woods in the Korean production of Legally Blonde: the Musical. In 2011, she was recognized with a Best New Actress Award for her role on the TV drama series Iron Daughters-in-Law. Honey Lee’s latest role is in the TV show Tazza: The Hidden Card.
