Kristen Kreuk is a Canadian actress known for her roles in Smallville and Edgemont. She was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on December 30, 1982. She is of Dutch and Chinese descent. While young she participate in both gymnastics and karate. She has a purple belt in karate. She quit doing both karate and gymnastics by grade 11.
Her career began with the teen soap opera Edgemont. During this time period she had no agent and did all of the work to get the part on her own. After two seasons of appearing on this show she found an agent and was cast in the television movie Snow White: The Fairest of Them All. Kristen Kreuk left her role on Edgemont in 2003. In 2004 she starred in the miniseries Legend of Earthsea. After this she was cast for the show Smallville, as Lana Lang, Clark Kent’s first love. She starred in the until 2008, when here character left town. She later returned for five episodes of the show to conclude her particular storyline with Clark Kent.
She has also been a spokesperson for Neutrogena. She spent a total of three years working for the company for their worldwide campaign to sell their product. She became the company’s longest-serving model for the promotion.
She has been a predominately small screen actress, but her ventures into film have been relatively successful. She is also a film producer, having started the company Parvati Creative Inc. the film company mainly focuses on movies seen from a woman’s point of view. The first production the company did was a short film titled Blink. The company has also launched a comedy web series titled “Queenie”. The series stars her close friend Olivia Cheng as well.
She also tested for several other roles for considerably more mainstream films. She audition for the film Get Smart, however she lost the role to Anne Hathaway. She also tested for the major motion picture Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol. She did not get role either, however. She has been quite successful in her career and is a very talented actress with a long and bright future ahead of her.
